Trincomalee is located 273 km northeast of Colombo, 182 km north of Jaffna and 111 km southeast of Batticaloa.

The most popular tourist attractions in the Trincomalee area are the famous Koneshwaram Kovil, the Naval Museum, the Trincomalee Fort and the Gokanna Raja Maha Viharaya.



History




The history of the Trincomalee area is more than two and a half years old and this area is one of the oldest areas. The Trincomalee Port is a very important place as it has been used for international trade in the past. Being one.Trincomalee was also affected by the Japanese invasion of the Indian Ocean during World War II in 1942, and the Sinhala and Tamil riots after independence in 1948.

Naval Museum - The Naval Museum was established by the Sri Lanka Navy in the Trincomalee area. The tower is named in memory of Vice-Admiral Sir Samuel Hood, a former commander of the East India Service.

Fort Frederick - Fort Frederick was established by the Portuguese who came to Sri Lanka in 1623 and after the Dutch took control of the Trincomalee area in 1639, it was expanded to expand to another territory.

Trincomalee is the capital city of the Trincomalee District in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Another popular tourist attraction in the Trincomalee area is Pigeon Island.
